"People" Foods Can Kill Your Dog

Usually, most dog owners take good care of their dogs and they are pretty careful about what they feed them. When it comes to feeding your dog at your dinner table, though, there is much to be considered such as how sure are you that what you are feeding your dog is good for it?

It does not matter if you feed your dog from the dinner table only on occasion or on a regular basis - there are dangerous "people" foods that should never be fed to your dog because some of these foods are like poison to your beloved dog.

Feeding your dog should be a careful affair. You should know that every morsel that you feed it is nutritious and safe. You can only do this by reading the labels of your dog foods, plain and simply.

Below is a list of things worth taking note of when are talking about "people" or table foods:

- It has been suggested that acidic foods are hazardous to your dog's health. This is because they have the ability to damage the GI track of your dog. When this happens, your dog may suffer from side effects such as restlessness, panting, fever, and vomiting.

- Dogs have bad experiences with grapes. There were cases of kidney failure in dogs when they consume this fruit.

- Onions are also extremely poisonous to your dog as they affect the balance of red blood cells in the dog's body.

- Coffee will elevate your dog's heart rate; can lead to anything from seizures, to GI track difficulties.

- The second most common cause of canine poisoning in the world today is ibuprofen. Dogs love the smell of this drug and will do anything to get at it if a bottle is around the house and not securely locked away.

- Most dog owners have, at some point in time, given their dogs chocolate. Chocolate contains caffeine which can increase their heart rate, which will in turn lead to seizures.

- Rat poison is the number one leading cause of canine poisoning. Thus, always place your rat traps carefully at places unreachable by your dog.

You should not feed your dog with "people" foods. Leave those foods to humans. It is very important that you always provide your dog with a highly nutritious and well-balanced diet. If you are not sure what to feed your dog, seek the advice of an experienced veterinarian.
