6 Steps To Profitable Websites

In order to build a profitable website for yourself you need to have a good plan in place as well as you carrying out lots of preparation first. A lot of people will come up with an idea for a website, they then buy a domain name and start to build the site without actually thinking through what is required. Like these people I use to have hundreds of websites and would never concentrate on one but would instead be moving from one to the next constantly. However now I concentrate on just 20 sites or less and because of this I have seen a dramatic increase in my income from them.

There are 6 steps you should take to ensure that you create websites that are profitable. Stick to this formula and you'll rapidly increase you income. Before you even think about building a site get yourself a ring binder and some paper you should create a section for each site you want to create. You could do this on a PC but trust me on this you'll use it much more if it's in a folder next to you PC.

With Step One you need to carry out your Keyword Research. It is at this time you need to be thinking all about niches and into what sections they are likely to be placed. The niches that you choose can be on any subject you want, and you will soon that not only are there plenty of profitable niches but also there are plenty of profitable sub niches as well. For example if you choice to do a site on Cars this is a great niche to have but a site that is on SUV's or Carburretors for cars would be even better. The most important thing to remember is that when doing your keyword research you need a good mixture of keywords. You need some that will have very little competition for you to worry about and others that will actually end up challenging you when it comes to promoting the site.

Planning is the second stage, many people completely miss this stage out don't! Grab a piece of paper from your file and sketch out the different areas of your site. Work out how you want it to look and if you want to add subdirectories or have each section on the same site. By sketching things out and keeping a record you can go back later and see which site models work well for you and which don't.

Step 3 is when you actually start to build your site. It is during the planning stage (step 2) that you should have decided just what tools you are going to be using in order to build the site. There are plenty of tools now available, some of which are available for free and others which could cost you hundreds of dollars. But if you are just starting out then I would suggest you start off by using WordPress. Not only is it free but you can also easily install it from many different websites by going to their Cpanel.

Promotion is the bit where many people fall down. They do enough to get the site indexed but then they get bored and build a new site. STOP! You must promote your site good promotion should be ongoing. Try to spend an hour a day for at least 2 weeks promoting your site.

All sites can only survive if they are receiving sufficient amounts of traffic to it. As you will soon learn this traffic can come from anywhere. However you have promoted your website properly then you will find that you start to receive the traffic you need from the various different search engines. It is important to note that organic search traffic is completely free and is what you are aiming to get to your site through promoting it.

Monetization is the objective for most webmasters if they want to earn an income from their sites. The trouble is most of them monetizing the sites too early. I'll often leave it 3 months before I monetize a site. There is no point in adding Adsense to your site immediately as it may affect the ranking of your site and without traffic it's not going to earn you money.

Once you can incorporate the 6 steps into your site building and learn what works well for you then you'll have a much better chance of making each and every site you build profitable.
