Scientific advances have not managed to shake various myths from the minds of people. The pervasiveness of these myths even covers how people understand acne and how people accept acne home remedies. Some of these myths are in relation to medication from drugstores, while some are in relation to other health issues. 1. Acne is Caused by Junk Food Fries, pizza and soda are definitely not the healthiest foods, but there is no evidence that having them as a part of your regular diet causes acne. The same goes to chocolate and other sweets. Most probably, this myth originated due to the fact that junk food and various desserts are favorites among teenagers, who are prone to frequent acne outbreaks. Still, if you have bad acne, keeping to a healthier diet won't hurt since your acne might be caused by toxins accumulated in your body. Acne Home Remedies - Second Rate to Over-the-Counter Medication This myth may have stemmed from the difference in perceived effectiveness between acne home remedies and medications which can be bought over the counter. Over-the-counter acne medication, formulated to provide immediate alleviation of medical problems, display much faster (if not immediate) results in removing acne. Naturally-derived, homemade acne remedies may take longer to take effect, but are not necessarily less effective than their drugstore counterparts. Sun Exposure Lessens Acne What sun exposure can actually do is make your pimples less visible, but it will not remove them. Mild tan provides only visual effect of improvement; overexposure can make your inflammation even worse. You are damaging your skin much more than doing any good, while exposing it to ultra-violet. The method might bring temporary relief from acne, but is not really worth it. 4. Combining a lot of different over-the-counter acne medicines will clear it forever. Some people believe that using a combination of over-the-counter medication for acne can help eliminate acne forever. Aside from being completely false, the skin's reaction to a variety of topical treatments can result in nasty damage-dryness or further inflammation-on the skin. Excessive use of prescribed or over-the-counter medicines can be unsafe both to the skin and the entire body. Moreover, even if a drug is too effective, no medicine promises permanent effects. 5. Over-the-counter acne treatments can prevent acne outbreaks. Using harsh over-the-counter acne medications as a preventative measure is a silly idea, as they simply don't work this way. They are designed to battle acne ones it is already there. Using them on a regular basis just to prevent acne outbreaks will soon irritate and dry out your skin badly. If you want to prevent acne, there is nothing better than acne home remedies. You can use them daily to clean, moisturize and nourish your skin without the fear of adverse side-effects. Besides, acne home remedies are easily available and more affordable to use on a day-to-day basis. Check out my skin care blog for effective remedies that can cure your acne in 3 days.
