Are There Advantages Using Discount Golf Balls?

I fell for all the hype when I first took up the game of golf about using this brand or that brand of golf ball instead of taking advantage of discount golf balls.. After all, if I wanted to hit the ball straight and long. I better make sure I pay a good deal of coin to do that.

Only the high-priced top-of-the-line products from well known manufacturers like Titlest (Leader in golf ball sales worldwide), Top-Flite, Dunlop, Callaway, Maxfli. Nike, Ping, Pinnacle, Precept, Ben Hogan, Bridgestone, Vulcan, Yonex, Wilson and more. Plus, I had to buy these at the golf course where I knew they'd be fresh and ready to fly properly. You know my motto right? You gotta pay if you wanna play! Nothing but the best, and costliest balls for my game.

Now.. Wait a Minute!

Well, one playing day early in my golf career I joined my friend Brad at our favourite course and were paired up with Todd and Kevin for an 18-hole outing. Turns out that I'd spend a good portion of the round near Todd because we both had a similar slice. In fact, Brad joked about it saying I didn't love him anymore 'cause I found a new BFF. At the third hole, I tapped in right after Todd and reached down to retrieve our balls.

"Hey," I said to Todd, "we play the same kinda ball. You get these at the pro shop?" I asked. His answer floored me.

Deep Discount Delivers

Todd told me that he lived on a fixed income - his salary! Therefore, in order to afford this new hobby, he had to find economic ways to bolster his way to pay his habit. It surely wasn't golf clubs because he had a great set that while not overly expensive, he didn't buy them off the rack. His bag was a modest model without all the expensive bells and whistles.

He did wear an excellent pair of shoes, ones that would last long and perform well. I didn't check out his tees, but then again, how much money can you save on tees, huh? He told me since he was a beginning hacker who, like most, went through balls that seemed destined for either water or woods. Therefore, he always purchased discount golf balls.

OK, Todd, So Why?

Unlike me, Todd didn't buy into the hype that the ball one bought should have mystical properties making up for all the inadequacies a golfer possessed. Since golf is an always-learning game, the chances losing balls, especially in the beginning stages, are pretty high.

Yet, unlike other necessities of the game like clubs and bag, balls are consumables every player faces. Even if you are a straight-down-the-fairway shooter, you need to eventually replace worn balls. In the beginning, the rate of replacement can be high and often. Of course, if your golf budget has no ceiling cap, by all means, ignore the advantages purchasing discount golf balls.

But, if you are like me, you might want to look into it because this is probably the one expense where you can have great control. It sure isn't over your shots, right? At least not in the beginning learning phases, therefore, purchasing discount golf balls may be your "best shot." As I was considering this, Todd revealed some news of impact to me.

Brand on the Buy

Well, you'd have thought Todd had hit a hole-in-one when he told me that the very ball I paid high premium dollar for at the course pro shop, he bought at a considerably reduced price. Reduced price! Then it got even stranger when he told me he purchased "experienced" balls. Shaking my head while watching him smile, I asked him what he was talking about. He told me he routinely buys used golf balls.

I had visions of golf ball thieves unzipping bags in course parking lots and then coming up to hackers with a "Psst...mister...you wanna bargain on good, used balls. Shush!" He laughed and assured me that he didn't buy "hot" balls. He told me there weren't golf ball cartels offering illegally got gains for sale.

He did, in fact, tell me that there were businesses specifically selling used golf balls that were recycled products found in great shape that included every brand on the planet. He chuckled claiming a used Maxfli or Dunlop flew just as straight and high as a new one, of course, if it was hit correctly.

Overruns that Never Ran

He then clued me into another great discount golf balls buying tip about purchasing brand new ones that beared a logo or came through an overrun. Made sense. I had recently received a complimentary pack of Titleists that had a March of Dimes logo on them from a charity benefit tournament. I know about misprints and misspell errors that result in a need to "dump" the unacceptable product. Mistakes and over ordering present opportunities for hacker golfers like me to take advantage buying discount golf balls.

Buy them by the Pound

Not exactly, but you can buy in bulk. There are plenty of third-party suppliers that make good business offering discount golf balls at extremely low prices. If you buy a lot of them at one time. These come in all ratings as well and can be used for practice balls and gameday play. Also, you gain a pretty good psychological edge when practicing with discount golf balls because losing them is fairly cheap. Todd then laid another whopper of info on me . He buys all his discount golf balls on the Internet!

Internet Provides a Great Home For Discount Anything

The emergence of the World Wide Web has changed the face of commerce forever. Unlike traditional mortar-and-brick retail - and even wholesale - suppliers of goods, an Internet presence affords any company the opportunity to realize a great deal of savings. There is no high overhead of rent, utilities, furniture, stationary supplies or payroll costs. Therefore, with operating costs at the minimum, suppliers can offer discount golf balls at very attractive pricing.

I was completely stunned to find out that I no longer needed a week's pay check to fund my golf hobby. My very next purchase was online, delivered quickly and stamped with a brand name that I had been spending quite a bit more for at the pro shop.
