If you want a great alternative to hardwood flooring then try bamboo flooring. Bamboo is a very environmentally friendly material and has a great for a floor in almost any room of the house. There are several large manufactures using bamboo flooring such as Armstrong flooring, Mohawk flooring, and Columbia flooring. Bamboo is almost as strong as steel and is stronger than almost anything else used in the production of discount wood flooring. Since bamboo is so strong and durable it is a great material for creating floors. It is more comfortable to walk on than stone and actually stronger than linoleum. Bamboo has almost the same weight, feel, and density as hardwood floors. Bamboo flooring is installed in a similar way to hardwood floors. They are usually nailed or glued to one’s sub floor. Some products are supposed to look like laminate flooring and the pieces come together to look like a floating floor. This type of product does not need to be nailed or glued down. The sub floor will need to be installed before your bamboo flooring is laid down. You can use asphalt shingles to level out your flooring. You need to make sure that your sub floor is totally dry and there is no moisture at all. Moisture could damage your new bamboo flooring. Since the depletion of hardwood forests is a global problem, many people are looking for alternatives to this kind of wood. Bamboo is a great alternative because it grows faster than any other tree used for wood flooring. Bamboo plants only take 5 years to grow before being used for commercial purposes. Since new bamboo begins growing almost right away after it is cut, this means there is no need to even replant new bamboo. Since other trees like walnut and oak can take many generations to grow, this makes bamboo a great option. Using bamboo can help save rainforests from being depleted. Caring for a bamboo floor is really easy too. You can just use a broom to sweep and if you want to clean it more thoroughly than you can use water and vinegar. You don’t much solution, just a damp mop and your ready to go. The solution is 4 parts water to 1 part vinegar so try to follow the instructions exactly in order to protect your flooring. You don’t want the floor to get too wet because this can cause damage to your bamboo floors. Make sure to dry your floor right away after you mop it. You can use a towel for this. If you spill something then just wipe it up and dry it off right away. You can also buff the floor with a buff sander to get it shiny again. Your floor will last for many years with the proper care.
