Trying to decide which of the iPod nano holders are right for you? This article will help you figure out what holder (or holders) you really need. Choosing an iPod nano holder can be more complicated than you might expect. There's a huge variety of cases out there, for different purposes, and in different styles. For less than 10 dollars you can get a silicone film covering, a faux leather flip case, and a few plastic belt clips. But that's just the starting point. You can get nano holders for your workouts, for fashion statements, to protect from wind and rain, and more. How do you want to use your iPod nano? Stop and think for a minute. How will you use the nano in your day? Will you listen during your commute? During a workout? While working around the house? Are you likely to drop your iPod nano or bump into it? Now that you've thought about it, you probably realize you need a couple different holders. For example, I use a leather and snakeskin holder during my commutes and have a Belkin neoprene armband for my workouts. The Workout: When you're working out you want easy access to the iPod nano while protecting it from bumps, drops, and getting banged against equipment. For most of us that means using an armband. I prefer a sweat-resistant armband, to protect it from moisture. My Belkin neoprene armband has a clear film over the display and a clip-on cord keeper. The only problem is I can't easily see what I'm doing when I change playlists. If you'd prefer to carry your iPod nano when working out you'll want a slip-proof cover. I suggest a silicone cover thick enough to also provide a little shock absorption if (or is it when?) you drop it. At Work (or While Commuting) In my consultant days, the details of my appearance mattered (perhaps too much). If you need a conservative, put-together image you should get a leather nano holder. Protect it from scratching by getting a holder with a lining. My favorite is made of nappa leather and has a velvet liner. If you're lucky enough not to be in a conservative job you get a lot more leeway in your choices. You just need to decide if you're more interested in being practical or stylish and go from there. The next paragraphs will help. Being Practical: Decide if practicality is important to you. You may need a belt clip to help you keep track of the nano. You might also want protection against wind and rain if you're outside a lot. If you're a klutz like me, you'll want to protect your iPod nano against bumps and drops. Ditto for if your nano will be rattling around at the bottom of your purse or briefcase. Look for a hard case, or at lease one with reinforced corners. Last but not least, style: While a lot of iPod nano owners stop at practicality, some of us also look for fashion. We want our nanos to look a little less geeky, or to express a little style. Try for Cloe Dao's high-energy prints or Gilty Couture's metal cases with Swarovski accents. My website has a review of designer nano cases to show you some ideas. I hope you have a better idea now of what you need in an iPod nano case. If not, feel free to stop by my website for a few more ideas. Enjoy your new iPod 3g nano!
