Bringing Back the Old Days

I have a story about flooring in California. Even though we have different kinds of flooring in CA, this one really stands out. What am I talking about? It’s the hardwood flooring in California that I saw in my friend’s house. Of all the floors in California, this one has a unique style. Aside from the hardwood’s durability, its beauty is truly remarkable. Much like the laminate flooring here in California.

I could never forget the elegant hardwood flooring I saw at a high school friend’s house when she invited me to her place recently. It was somewhere in Stockton, and since it’s just an hour ride from our place in Sacramento; I took the opportunity to meet her again. After five years of no communication, at last, destiny paves the way for us to meet. She told me that she had found my personal blog on the net when she searched my name on the Google tab. And since then, we maintained a stable communication and decided to meet.

We agreed at 3 o’clock in the afternoon of Saturday, September 12. I waited for the city bus to take me to Stockton. After almost fifteen minutes of waiting, the bus came and I got in.

I arrived in Stockton at exactly four in the afternoon. I took out the map, which my friend provided me so that I can find her place. It wasn’t a hard search but I must admit that tracking down her place got me really hungry. Exhausted from my long ride since I am not fond of traveling, I managed to sit on the front steps of her house before knocking on the door. A soft voice suddenly breaks the long silence.

“Andy? Is that you?”

I turned to look at her and got surprised. She’s totally different now. A fairy, a lady, a fair lady! She’s far from the girl I used to know back in our high school days. She used to be a girl who doesn’t comb her hair or who’s never heard of a comb!

“Come on in,” she said, instantly breaking my train of thoughts.

As I entered her house, I hardly looked up to see the interiors because the hardwood floors caught my attention. As a matter of fact, my eyes were glued on the floor. My friend went on talking (I didn’t understand a word she said since I was too engrossed with the great flooring), but finally stopped upon realizing my attention was not on her.

“Is there anything wrong about our flooring Andy?” she asked.

“Oh, nothing. It’s just that I appreciate its beauty,” I replied.

“Oh, I see. Well come on and let’s have a snack. Feel at home,” she added.

My friend’s flooring in California is like an oeuvre of the masters! A great art I couldn’t recover from. It became an essential part of our conversation that afternoon along with other interesting topics that ranged from childhood stories, teachers in high school, and of course the happenings in our respective love departments!

It was, indeed, an unforgettable day with my best buddy.
