Classification and the basic characteristics of peptides

Peptides are polymers which attach and adhere amino acids together with the help of what is called a peptide bond. Protein is the molecule that is formed by lots of peptides and that is also called polypeptide molecule. The main thing that draws attention of the scientists analyzing peptides is the kind and amount of amino acid.

There are peptides which are put together by their unique ferment features rather than by the ribosome. Such peptides are named nonribosomal. Peptides of that class are able to execute a great deal of various functions in the organism. For example glutathione that is usually used as antioxidant. Peptides may be found even in some sorts of plants. Scientists announce that one more class of peptides exists. These peptides are included into milk and some digested meat. Peptones are utilized as a main resource of the nutrients by the bacteria of fungi that are growing.

Peptides have become quite necessary in molecular biological analysis, because they contribute to the production of peptide antibodies in animals without the need to have a pure protein under the experiment. Antigenic peptides can be synthesized for just a section of the necessary protein. Later these sections assist to create antibodies in the animals.

One more explanation for raising scientific interest to peptides is that they are commonly utilized in mass spectrometry. The basic principle which mass spectrometry is based on is that there is a possibility to track specific proteins just having known their sequence and mass.
