The expectation from the Cubs soared in 2002 after a wild card run in 2001 but they again could not content for the World Series. The year 2004 was not great either and finished with just 55 wins.

The Cubs have won the National League championships in the year 1906, 1907, 1908, 1910, 1918, 1929, 1932, 1935, 1938 and in the year 1945.
