DIY stands for Do It Yourself, but Do what yourself? Well decorate of course! In many countries DIY home improvements are becoming more and more popular! DIY improvements mean that you carry out improvements in your house by yourself.

So is professional best?

There are a number of Americans that do prefer doing the work themselves, however some still like it all done for them.

If you need a professional in to do the job then you normally hire a contractor who acts as the manager of the project. The contractor then has to hire all of the workers he needs to complete the job.

The good thing about this is he has done it many times over, and so he already has good reliable contacts. If you are trying to get your own plumber in it can be difficult knowing who to trust. Make sure any contractor you hire has liability insurance.
