Finding True Love with Online Dating Services

If you have ever done an internet search for online dating services, you know just how many there are out there. There seems to be a site for any niche you can think of. People who want to cheat, people who want someone rich, people who want someone large, people who have particular fetishes, the list goes on and on and on. It seems no matter what you are looking for; you will find online dating services offering the solution.

The key then becomes trying to figure out which one to use. Say, for example, you are a 30 something divorced parent of 2, with a government job and you live in a smaller city on the east coast. You are looking for someone to date, that will eventually lead to something more serious, up to and including marriage. You want someone who is single, close to your age, employed and who lives close to you. You aren’t looking for a green haired, rebel billionaire who lives on his houseboat surrounded by pictures of feet. (Well, he may turn out to be Mr. Right, but you certainly aren’t limiting yourself to just that criteria). There are many online dating services to cater to what most of society would consider a “normal” relationship.

Once you click on a site to see what it offers, you can find out quickly if it is catering to the demographic you are looking for. Some sites have more users than others, but volume is not necessarily what you are looking for. You should look for sites that let you narrow down very specific things that you are looking for. Since you have 2 children, you want someone who likes kids, has kids or wants kids. Make sure that you can filter the important things. If you are a very tall female, say 5’11, you may not be comfortable dating someone who is not quite as tall, so you should be able to filter height. You will find that this will be a time saver. Instead of going through pages and pages of people who don’t meet the criteria you consider of utmost importance, you will now be able to look at profiles of people that meet those needs.

Once you have found a site that offers you the ability to choose certain criteria and has a healthy number of users in your area, it is time to get your feet wet. Create a profile, but be honest! Don’t say in your profile you love to travel if you don’t enjoy it. If you have a little bit of extra weight, be honest. Bending the truth on your profile may be tempting so you get more responses, but if you are getting the wrong kinds of people messaging you, are you really further ahead than had you not signed up at all. The more honest you are when creating your profile and what it is you are looking for, the more effective the online dating services will be.
