The Disney sequel is every bit as entertaining as the original � �National Secrets� which was released in 2004. Many of the outstanding cast is back to reprise their roles; the movie is worth viewing to see this outstanding cast in action! Filled with more action than you can imagine, this film which runs 2 hour and five minutes, will have you sitting on the edge of your seat. From the beginning of the film until the final credits roll, viewers are taken on a globe-trotting romp. Partly based on actual history, the film is also party myth and part mystery. That combination produces intrigue, hi-jinx and a great deal of fun which is suitable for the entire family. Ben Gates, played by Oscar-winner Nicholas Cage (who reprises the role) finds himself traversing the world in search of the �Lost City of Gold�. Gates is a true treasure-hunter and is up to the task. Clues are reveled to Ben little by little until he reaches the final clue. The final clue, however, comes with mighty big strings attached � before the final clue will be revealed, Ben must first kidnap a prominent Washington D.C. figure. The decision he makes about the kidnapping proves to be life-altering for Gates. Helen Mirren, who won Best Actress in 2007 for The Queen, shines in the role of Dr. Emily Appleton. Dr. Appleton is Ben�s mother and was once married to Patrick. Though long estranged from her ex-husband, Emily is drawn to join her family in the search for truth. Helen Mirren is superb in everything she does and this performance is no exception. Jon Voight, who won Best Actor for is portrayal of a Vietnam vet in the film �Coming Home� shines as Patrick Gates, Ben�s dad. Voight is superb as he plays the high-spirited, whimsical Gates. Patrick loves adventure every bit as much as his son does and together they have a really great time. The chemistry between the two actors is undeniable. The third Oscar-winner is Dame Helen Mirren, who portrays Dr. Emily Appleton. Emily is Ben�s mother and Patrick�s ex-wife. A quirky professor, Dr. Appleton is pulled in to helping her family search for the truth. As always Helen Mirren delivers a charming and noteworthy performance. The film has a rating of �PG� for some scenes which feature minor violence scattered throughout it. All in all, the film is suitable for and provides entertainment to family members of all ages. Kids are captivated by the fast-paces, humorous treasure hunt and are intrigued by following along to discover the clues.
