The South Beach diet is among the most widely used ways to lose weight today. It is styled around lifestyle and diet changes that help you achieve realistic weight loss goals. By cutting "bad" fats and carbohydrates and eating plenty of "good" ones, dieters can shed excess pounds without sacrificing their health or feeling deprived. There are three phases in the South Beach program. During the first stage, dieters do not eat any carbohydrates except for vegetables. Although many foods are restricted, dieters still have a wide range of foods they can eat. Phase one is the strictest stage, but also the shortest since it only takes two weeks. Dieters can expect to lose around 10 pounds during this time. In phase two, dieters begin adding the previously restricted carb-rich foods into their meals. Dieters are expected to lose one to two pounds each week while steadily raising the amount of carbohydrates they eat. The second phase lasts until dieters achieve their goal weight. The third phase is the maintenance stage. Dieters utilize their strategies from phase two to maintain their ideal weight throughout the duration of their lives. If dieters begin to put on weight, they are able to revert back to phase one of the program. It is likely that you've seen pre-packaged South Beach snacks and meals in stores. These items are very handy, but you don't need to buy them in order to follow the diet. You only need to follow the different general rules for each stage of the diet. During the first stage of the diet, you may enjoy lean cuts of meat, such as chicken, fish, and turkey, eggs, most vegetables, nuts, and a small amount of dairy products. Fruit juices and fruit are avoided during this stage because they are high in sugar. Also banned are all carbohydrates, fatty meats, alcoholic beverages, and certain vegetables that may have high sugar content, such as carrots. The point of this stage is to cut "bad" carbohydrates from your diet and jumpstart the process of losing weight. During the second stage, dieters gradually reintroduce fruit, whole grains, and other formerly prohibited foods into their diet. In the process, dieters discover how to balance their eating habits to maintain a desirable weight. Once this is successfully completed, the diet transitions into the life maintenance stage, in which dieters attempt to maintain the healthy habits that brought them to their target weight. The key to success with the South Beach diet program is dedication to eating healthy. Although that sounds simple, this diet program and many other diets stop working because dieters abandon the diet before the program can start to work. The problems that most people have with losing weight often stem from deeper issues such as a lack of impetus to lose weight, a tendency to overeat, or an uncontrollable appetite. The good news is that all of these issues can be resolved with techniques that are easy to learn from a good hypnotherapy diet CD program. To remedy a lack of motivation, a technique from a technology called Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) will induce a strong desire to stay on track with your weight loss goals. First, dieters pinpoint exactly what things are most valuable to them, as an individual. This is known as their "highly valued criteria." Then, NLP techniques are used to make the dieters feel that by losing weight, their highly valued criteria will become enhanced. An alternative is to make the dieter feel that if they don't lose weight, their highly valued criteria will be in jeopardy. Motivation comes from what we believe in, not from logic! So in the previous example, let's say that the dieter's most valued wish is that the dieter's children are safe and well. Using an NLP tool known as Submodalities, we can guide the dieter into feeling that if he/she fails to lose weight, the children will be fated to emulating their parent and they will also be overweight and dissatisfied. This idea will provide a strong urge and feeling to stick to a diet and get the weight off. Many NLP techniques can help to lessen or even entirely eliminate the impulses and cravings that compel one to eat too much. This works very effectively to help dieters stick to the initial and most difficult days of the South Beach diet. It also helps dieters stick to a physical activity program, which will enhance the value of any diet program. Stress is a factor that often drives people to eat too much or neglect their well-being, but relaxation can be provided by both NLP and hypnotic practices. One such tool is known as the NLP Flash. With this technique, having your unconscious mind use negative thoughts as triggers for positive thoughts gets rid of the stress that causes the desire to overeat. Uncontrollable eating habits can also cause people to put on weight. A lot of people have seemingly unmanageable appetites because over time, they have developed a "conditioned response" to eat under certain circumstances. For instance, many of us gorge on junk food in front of the television even when we aren't actually hungry. Fortunately, NLP and hypnosis both have practices that can quickly extinguish these conditioned behaviors. These practices create appetite suppression without the use of drugs. By targeting the root problems that prevent dieters from losing weight, hypnosis and NLP has helped many dieters finally get in the best shape of their lives. When used with the South Beach diet program, dieters are able to enjoy easy weight loss and triumph at achieving their fitness goals.
