Follow these four critical steps: Repair! Moisturize! Protect! Repeat! Repair: The tips of your nails may be weak and need to be strengthened. Mavala’s Scientifique is the answer to the problem. It strengthens the tip of the nails while stopping breakage and splitting by bonding the nail layers together. Having the nail layers together is much stronger than individually. After applying the Scientifique, the surrounding cuticle is the next step. There is a gentle and effective way of getting rid of those overgrown cuticles. Try a cuticle remover that PREVENTS overgrown cuticles rather than temporarily cleaning them out. Cutting the cuticles is NOT recommended because it may cause bleeding and quite possibly, an infection. Have you ever cringed when the nail technician starts working on your cuticles? That’s because many of them cut the cuticles, and sometimes too deep. Avoid the pain and get rid of those ugly cuticles at the same time! Cutting the overgrown cuticles is a temporary fix but removing them all together is ideal to repair those cuticles back to their softened state. After gently repairing the dry and overgrown cuticles, the next step is to moisturize and stimulate the nails. Moisturize: In order to continually help the growth of healthy, strong nails, a moisturizer specifically for the nails is needed. This will help the new growth become stronger and prevents the flaking and splitting of nails because the elasticity is brought back to the nail. Then of course, a moisturizer for the hands is needed! It is essential to continually moisturize the handa and nails to give them the nutrients they need. It is also very important to use HAND lotion instead of body lotion. Although the body lotion would work, hand lotions are designed specifically for the hands to give better results. Protect: Now we get to the good stuff. The nail polish! But first, it’s recommended to use a base coat and top coat with your nail polish to give that long lasting professional looking painted manicure. Have you ever had your nails turn yellow from nail polish? It’s because your nails are in direct contact with the nail polish and so the pigment of the nail polish seeps through the nail plate. Base coats protect the nail plate by having that extra layer prevent the nail polish pigment from seeping in. Base coats also prolong the length of your manicure by having your polish adhere to your nail. Protecting the nail polish is as equally important as protecting the nail and that’s where the top coats come into play! They seal in the nail color and bring out an illuminating shine. Top coats not only look good, but they are very useful too! The top coat also extends the life of your manicure and prevents chipping of the polish; it’s basically a protective shield for those well manicured nails. Also, the great thing about a top coat is that you can apply as many coats as you would like. Many times, bright colored nail polish loses its luster. The top coat fixes this problem by just adding another layer of top coat. This will bring your color back to life! Tips: • Stick to two thin coats of nail polish. If you do any more than that, your nails will be more susceptible to chipping. Any less than that, then you will not get enough color. • When applying the top coat, make sure to apply it over the tip of the nails while carrying over the brush to underneath the nail tip afterwards. Nail polish chips at the tip of the nails because our nail tips get the most exposure to outside surfaces. Repeat! After these three steps, the most critical step is to repeat. The most effective way to have the out of the salon manicure all the time is to repeat! Repeat! Repeat! Repeat this process every week, or however many times you do your manicure. It is good to follow these steps to make your nails look good any time and all the time.
