At some point or another in our bodybuilding activities, we all have (or will) hit what is known as a plateau. This is when you keep training, but as hard as you try, seem too make no progress. It can be really frustrating; I?ve been there myself and I know how discouraging this sometimes is. However, you can break past the plateaus and keep right on making progress towards your bodybuilding goals. There is one common mistake people make when bodybuilding; it happens in any kind of fitness training really, but bodybuilders tend to notice the plateau phenomenon more so that for instance, tennis players. The mistake is: working out too often. Forgive me for sounding like a broken record, but...your muscles need recovery in between workouts! If you want to build mass, you have got to give them a break. When you workout you are stimulating the muscle to grow, but in order for that growth to happen, you have to give the muscle a chance to rest in between workouts. You know you need to work the muscles to exhuastion to build muscle. This doesn't mean, though that you have to overdo or strain the muscle. Remember, this is the number one thing that will help you move out of that plateau: rest! Another thing you can do is to increase the capacity of your body to do anaerobic exercise. One way to do this is leg presses. Yes, leg presses. Your legs are the strongest part of your body and working them out gives your entire body some benefit. You can get past that plateau by doing some leg training; it?s absolutely true! Before I close, the most important thing to remember is: Don't Give Up! All that hard work you have been doing will have been for nothing if you quit when you think you are at an impasse. Our bodies do have limits but you may only be stuck at a plateau that you can get past! Keep working out and try out my tips for moving forward--they have worked for me and I know they can work for you. Good luck as you keep working towards your fitness goals. See you at the gym!
