Summer is normally the best time of the year to go on holiday in. This is because the weather's brilliant, and all of the children are off school. This is normally when most people will plan to go on holiday. The most attractive options are cruises as they offer a unique mix of travelling and entertainment in one easy package. Most people will go on holiday during the summer period for these reasons. However there is one major problem with the summer, and that's hurricanes. The hurricane season continues throughout the summer until the 30th November in the Caribbean. This means that it could affect virtually all of your holiday. From staying in a hotel with windows designed to weather a storm, to choosing a safe cruise ship, the threat of poor weather should weigh into your choices. Before you start to think that hurricanes won't cause any problem to your holiday you should think about some important facts. Many people think that modern day cruise liners cannot be sunk, unfortunately this is not the case. Everyone onboard is happy and wants to have a good time, but problems can still happen. In 1998 a ship known as the Phantom sailed into stormy waters and was sunk when they sailed straight into a hurricane. The passengers were left on shore safely, however the captain and members of crew were never found. Another ship had problems in 1999, however this ship was luckier and managed to get out of trouble. Because of these chilling stories it is clear why people might want to be cautious when it comes to going on a cruise. This shouldn't??t mean however that you let worry damage your holiday. You need to be cautious, but not overly cautious. A Caribbean cruise could well be the best holiday for your family to enjoy. It might even be something that you might want to repeat on a regular basis. If you are willing to take a cruise out of season then you can get a very reasonable deal. You should not think that problems can't affect ships anymore, they are more advanced however they are not unsinkable. The captain will do plenty of research so that they are able to avoid adverse weather conditions as much as possible. Hurricanes are more avoidable than they used to be, because the cruise ship can simply change its course if there is a risk of bad weather. This could potentially change your holiday plans. A reservation on a cruise ship is not a certain thing. You cannot guarantee that you will be able to go on a cruise. The safety of the crew and passengers will not be risked, even if there is a tiny risk of a storm they may reconsider their route or even postpone their departure. There are a couple of things that you can do to minimize the risks of weather conditions. Don't pay large deposits for summer cruises as they are subject to change depending on the weather. The second key idea is to prepare a backup plan just in case.
