Making a Difference Together

You might not recognize his name, but I'll bet you recognize his work. The events Charlie Gay has organized have been enjoyed by millions. After beginning his career at age 22, Charlie began organizing events for Margaret Thatcher at age 24 and later promoted some of the biggest names in music including Luciano Pavarotti, Pink Floyd, Duran Duran, Fleetwood Mac, and Phil Collins.

In 1991, Charlie Gay moved to America to work with Cher's personal management team. He also co-founded Promenade Pictures with Frank Yablans. (Frank is the founder of Buena Vista and the head of Paramount Pictures.) Since that time, Charlie he has organized events for the Rose Bowl, Cotton Bowl, Candlestick Park, and the Washington, D.C. Mall.

With so much work to be done, it seems as if Charlie would have no time for anything else, but in fact, his real pride and joy lies in his work with Humanity Unites Brilliance (HUB). A for-profit organization, HUB diligently strives to help people out of survival mode and bring them into a mode of self-empowerment and sustained abundance.

Charlie Gay has always been driven by enthusiasm and passion, two traits that have brought him both success and failure. Luckily, Charlie's successes have outnumbered his failures. In fact, some of his other successes include his work with Nelson Mandela's Mineseeker Foundation and his organization efforts for Billy Graham's final crusade.

Charlie Gay has always been passionate about bringing people together whether through charity or music. He believes everyone has a desire for doing something great, but most people stop with desire. They don't know how to act upon it. That's what makes HUB so great. People with common goals can come together uniting their individual strengths.

Take Mozambique for example. In recent years, floods forced many people from their homes into refugee camps. Non-profit aid programs had no money or resources available, and the United Nations World Food Program short by 70% on expected funding. Heidi Baker had been a primary care-giver in the country for over 20 years, so when Charlie spoke to her, he knew something needed to be done.

Because Heidi felt she was not able to deal with the hunger problem herself, Charlie contacted Larry Jones of the non-profit Feed the Children organization. They in turn contacted the for-profit company Nourish the Children, and in doing so, they were able to deliver $2 million worth of meals to the starving refugees in Mozambique via a factory in China.

Everyone can help others. Everyone can reach goals. Look inside yourself and ask yourself where your talents lie. The saying holds true: "Give a man a fish, and he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, and he'll never go hungry." Money isn't the answer. Unite with others toward a common goal and feed off each other's strengths to change your community and your world!
