It's a good idea to begin with the end in mind when thinking of a retraining scheme, and list all the things you want your new job to offer. Perhaps you're longing for the chance to share your ideas and talents, which have previously been restricted? Before you choose a specific job role, make sure that the core requirements are a match for your personality. It's essential to get the job right before looking for the appropriate retraining scheme. Many industries have peaked and are starting to shrink their workforces - especially in these times of recession. It's important to choose an industry with a future, so it's likely to still want you when you're too old to find a new career. Analysing Retraining Schemes: Begin With The End In Mind... Others find the job a disappointment when they actually get to it, as it isn't what they were expecting.
