Sadly, many MLM distributors won't see the success they originally planned because many of them are stuck focusing on things in their business that don't really matter. This misguided focus needs to change. Let me tell you what I mean. Often times, when potential Melaleuca distributors are searching for an MLM opportunity all they can think about is the top-notch, revolutionary products that Melaleuca.com offers. Maybe it's the one-of-a-kind compensation plan that will finally help them achieve financial freedom. Now don't get me wrong, these things are important and should factor into their decision, but they shouldn't be the first things on their list. The most important thing you can do as a Melaleuca product distributor is focus on how to market your MLM business. Things like the Melaleuca, Inc. products and compensation plan are important pieces of information, but the truth is that they come second on the priority list. One thing I want you to realize is that they only thing that is going to make your business grow is marketing - not the compensation plan; not the products! All too often you see distributors moving from MLM to MLM thinking that the reason for their lack of success is the product or the compensation plan and nothing could be further from the truth. We all love McDonald's. They are so convenient not to mention inexpensive, but yet you know that there are tons of places that make better tasting food than McDonald's. In fact, you could even make a better tasting burger than McDonald's, but it's not likely that you are getting rich off your burger, right? Listen friends. A lot of people can have a great product but the real success of the product lies in its marketing and promotion. Sales and marketing is one of the most important factors for any business and if you're serious about having a successful, Melaleuca network marketing business, know that this must be a major priority. The truly successful Melaleuca home based business distributors know that effective sales and marketing is the key to making money in their business. They understand that other activities and things like MLM products, the Melaleuca Company compensation plan, and training from corporate teams and upline sponsors are important, but they also don't bring in any kind of money. Successful distributors also know that if they focused on these things that don't bring in any kind of money, they could very well be out of a business! Melaleuca, the Wellness Company relies on distributors making sales and growing their businesses and it's their job to create great products and a second-to-none compensation plan. On the other hand, it's your job to market their products and the business opportunity and the reason you get paid is because you get good at selling and marketing. If you've been in this business or any business, one of the things you'll see is that people will make a lot of money with an average product if they know how to market their product well. At the same time, they can have a great product, but the marketing efforts are minimal to average, then they aren't going to go very far. Robert Kiyosaki and Seth Godin are highly successful business men that have already authored several books on business and marketing. If you've read their books, they'll tell you that knowing how to market effectively is the most important thing for any successful business. One thing you'll hear from Seth Godin, former Vice President of Marketing for Yahoo!, is that, "Marketing is all there is. You don't win with better shipping or manufacturing or accounts payable, you win with better marketing" Prioritize your work efforts. As a distributor, you offer a total business experience and you should definitely know the quality of the products you have and how you're going to get paid. You want to make sure that your products and business opportunity meets the needs of the people you serve to they keep coming back to you over and over and over again. But before all of that happens, you have to first get out there and market your product. That's first priority. Most MLM companies, Melaleuca included, usually don't train their distributors very well in marketing. Marketing techniques aren't used or taught very much and the little that is taught is outdated and ineffective. Melaleuca.com distributors are given pretty brochures and top-notch graphic designs for websites, but again, those aren't the things that drive a sale. One thing is for sure. If you want to be a successful Melaleuca, Inc. business owner, then place a priority on learning and using marketing efforts in your business.
