Unlike many illnesses, people suffering from depression will display all the available symptoms of depression and not just one or two from the studies carried out by health care officials. Owing to the nature of depression, the symptoms are sometimes not readily visible especially by people close to the person suffering symptoms of depression.

You probably know someone who is depressed and are aware of the range of symptoms they may exhibit at any given time, even if they do not. Help is available long before the person suffering from depression exhibits every symptom and the sooner they receive help the better.

Sadness over an extended period of time and no interest in life around them are often the first signs of depression. Early signs such as these are still the best indicators of a mental health problem especially if they are noticed early.

Speaking of feeling sorry for yourself; another common symptom of depression is when a person actually feels like he or she has nothing to look forward to in their life. These feelings continue to get worse and a pessimistic attitude towards life in general is a sure sign that something is wrong.

Depressed individuals do not value themselves at all, are lethargic and suffer from terrible guilt. There is always the feeling that they do not deserve to be happy and this just increases the other symptoms they feel. Thus, the loss of self-worth, if that person feels like he or she isn't worthy of being happy or enjoying one's self then that's clear tell-tale symptom of depression.

This failure to even enjoy your own hobbies and interests just shows how sever depression can become. Once this situation has occurred then it really does mean that something serious is happening.

This lack of enthusiasm often culminates in a complete lack of energy. A healthy mind creates a health body they say and although not always true, people with mental disorders are often found to be in poor physical condition.

A depressed person will also find it difficult to concentrate as their mind is elsewhere. Lack of attention to what is being said on or around them; depressed individuals also have trouble recalling events that may be recent.

People who sleep too much can have as many problems as those who sleep to little and may be part of the cause of memory failure and concentration troubles. Noticing if a person's sleep pattern is disrupted can be as easy to detect as their eating habits when they start eating far more or less than usual. Left unchecked, the depression sufferer will feel unwell for regular headaches and stomach pains as well as other bodily pains; there may also be a morbid preoccupation with death, including their.
