Starting A Home Poker Game

Now that you are the expert of the game, you realize that you are a professional player and have confidence on your game. Betting patterns are easy for you to detect and you can tell who the real pro is and who is just bluffing. You have enjoyed a lot of good games online but now you are ready for something more. How about hosting your own games from the comfort of your home?

When you first start you will need to get a few things. The first thing to think about is a poker chips set. You will need to look into this selection carefully as there are good and bad things about every type of chip. You have a choice of styles and materials; there are composite, clay and plastic poker chips. You will need to understand the good and bad points of each.

After you have selected your poker chips you can then get the poker chips set that is right for you. Basically you should have 2 decks of cards, about 500-1,500 poker chips and a dealer button. This will let you start your games with this essential gear.

The next thing you need to get is a poker table. You just spent a bunch of money on a poker chip set and you don't want your brand new chips banging against the hard surface of a kitchen table. In addition, a nice poker table makes the chips easier to handle. People who fiddle with their poker chips can easily give off tells. Who knows? Your table may pay for itself in a few weeks! Not to mention, poker tables are just plain cool.

Finally you need people. Chances are you already have a group of poker buddies so spread the word that you're starting a weekly game and see if you can pull in 5 to 9 people. If you and your cronies come up short, you can always do a google search for poker clubs in your area. Chance are there's a group of like-minded poker buffs looking for someone with a poker table and a nice poker set to host some games. One post and maybe a couple of emails and you're set!

Poker is a skillful game but you can also use it to make a lot of friends. When you use a local board to post your game you will have a nice response of people who would love to join your weekly poker games.
