Stop Smoking Methods - Why Some Work And Some Do Not

Smoking is quite easily the most widespread addiction in the world today, and at the same time, the ways to stop smoking outnumber the ways to curb any other form of addiction. Here is a synopsis of some of the ways and why all of them do not work equally effectively.

The nicotine replacement method is the most popular way in which smoking is stopped these days. The principle behind it is to supply the active and addictive ingredient, nicotine to the body without using cigarettes, which is not very harmful in nature. The replaced substance will have a taste that will be equivalent to that of nicotine else, it will not be effective at all.

The Indian tobacco named Lobelia is the most commonly used replacement substance. It is the main ingredient of a beedi, which has been smoked by Indians without addiction for several centuries now. This replacement does not contain any tar. Even lozenges, patches, gums, etc. with a nicotine replacement are used to prevent the addiction.

The main intention of the substances used in all kinds of nicotine replacement therapy is certainly to gradually wean away the person from the addiction and protect him or her from pumping dangerous tar and carbon monoxide in the body. They have attained a degree of success and popularity too, and indeed doctors have also been prescribing these methods for hardened smokers.

However, the fact is that in these therapies, nicotine is not kept away from the body actually. In cases like nicotine patches, nicotine is used in the treatment itself. When this is done, the addiction is not treated at all. Tar is kept away, but still, intake of nicotine is still present. Hence, there exists a very high possibility that the person gets back to smoking once the patches are discontinued.

Hence, a person must wear the patch for the whole of his or her life. It causes other complications also. They can cause irritation in sensitive skin and may be the reason for discontinuing it. It also causes nightmares and vigorous dreams while having the patches on at night. Hence, there is no guarantee whatsoever that these therapies will actually work.

Medications also cannot be considered to be very effective in ways in which smoking can be stopped. All medications used for stopping the smoking urge like Varenicline and Buproprion are just antidepressants. They can help in tackling the depression and anxiety pangs that are caused while smoking is being given up. However, they do not dissuade people, actively, from smoking. They cannot also repair the damage that has already been caused to the organs and tissues of the body because of the smoke. Doctors prescribe antidepressants for all, but many conditions of people can cause serious complications to them. Pregnant women and old people are not supposed to consume antidepressants at all.

Off late, the herbal methods are making their presence felt. They are really good, and are effective in stopping people from smoking. Natural herbs are used for these medicines, and the herbs do not have any kind of side effects. These can be used by anyone. The herbal remedies used make people move away from the smoking habit, and also repair the damage that has been made by several years of smoking.

The SmokeRX is very popular today. This special kit assures people that they will see a difference in the habit within seven days. There are loads and loads of herbal remedies today that are showing good output. They click among the smokers, because they target every aspect that makes one person smoke, and not just one, so they sure will be effective against addiction.
