The English FA Cup

The very fact that the FA Cup ( The Football Association Challenge Cup) has lasted the longest in the world as the oldest Football Knockout championship proves why you should not miss any opportunity to catch all the matches Live. The FA Cup 2009-10 will be the hundred and twenty ninth season of the championship! You have got to have a favourite, Tottenham Hotspur or Chelsea or any other team; but FA Cup is where the underdogs get the opportunity to shine and it is also the competition which proves the worth of the biggies and they get to prove if all the attention that they eventually get is all well deserved or not.

It is also the championship where perhaps the largest numbers of Football teams participate; this season too as the last seven hundred and sixty two teams will be taking part. The season starts off from 15 August 2009 and football fanatics from all over the world are bracing themselves for the outburst of Live Football 2009; among the most watched annual sporting events. The Final match of the series is to be held in Wembley Stadium in London on the appointed date of 15 May 2010. The Club defending the title of this competition at the moment is Chelsea who defeated Everton in the 2008-2009 season of the Cup.

This season too it will follow the knock out format as before. The pairings for each match are drawn at random and never decided from before, so the teams are yet to know who they will be facing off against in the knock outs. During the draw of the pairings it is also decided which team gets to play at home. There will be a total of fourteen rounds to play in the competition; this includes six qualifying rounds followed by six other rounds and then the semi finals and the finals. Not only does the winning Club get a trophy and the title of the defending champions of the year, they will also get a chance to qualify for the UEFA Cup.

Ideally, to make it the tastiest match for the finals, one of the big four; Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City or Chelsea against one of the underdogs; this would turn out to be exciting and not the usual. But we would just have to wait and watch what actually proceeds and what does happen at the finals.
