If your computer has never been infected with a virus or spyware, consider yourself very lucky. One day your computer is running perfectly its quick to open programs, run the internet, type documents, etc. Then, a virus and/or spyware hit your computer and everything changes. Suddenly, trying to gain access to the internet may take ten (or more attempts) or you may not be able to get on the web at all. If you do get on the web, you are bombarded with one after another after another of pages opening. You may have as many as 20 pages of ads pop up at once. All of these pop-ups make it almost impossible to get to the web page you need. You can try closing them, but as soon as you do, another one or two or three pop up in its place. There are other excellent anti-spyware and removal programs available to consumers as well. Spyware Doctor consistently ranks very high among users. It is a comprehensive security program that protects you from computer viruses, adware and the dreaded spyware. Another great anti-spyware and removal software program to consider is Spy Sweeper. Like Norton, Spy Sweeper has been around for quite awhile and continues to perfect its product on a regular basis. You can download Norton, Spy Sweeper or Spyware Doctor from the internet or purchase them at your local computer store. The prices range from $30-$100 USD and are based upon what features are offered. Read a little about each program before you download or purchase them. You are the only one who knows just what type of security you need for your home and/or office computers. All of that does sound bleak; but there is also very good news available. You can download or purchase very effective anti-spyware and removal software from a number of sites on the web. Many of the sites offer free downloads. Beware, though, because many free trials will identify the viruses, adware and spyware but will not remove any of these pests until you buy the actual program. People often are not sure if their computers have viruses, spyware or adware. One simple way to determine if you might is to judge the speed of your operating system. If it is taking ten minutes to gain access to the internet, when it used to take seconds, chances are you have a virus. Every computer owner should purchase anti-spyware and removal software before they run into trouble. Its a small investment that will save you money in the long run.
