Wedding Attire for the Bride and Groom

For the groom, getting dressed for the occasion is easy. Just pick up the tuxedo rented months before, get dressed, and be sure to return everything after the wedding with all the pieces in decent condition. The bride has a more grueling task ahead. Dressing the bride requires poring over magazines and websites searching for the perfect look, then months of dieting and humiliating dress fittings. In addition, the bride also needs to buy all the accessories. If the couple are not planning on a courthouse wedding or running off the Las Vegas, selecting wedding attire is an unavoidable task.

The wedding attire is one of the first items that needs to be addressed, especially if the wedding will take place at the height of the season. Only planning the wedding budget is above attire on the list of pre-wedding chores. Most brides are acutely aware of this task as they have often been thinking about it since they were little girls! Even so, brides often spend more than a month shopping and trying on gowns before the final decision is made.

After the dress is found, a bride still needs ample time for special ordering and dress fittings. Usually three separate fittings are required before the dress is adjusted to look absolutely perfect for the wedding day. As a result, it is advisable to allow extra time in case of unforeseen delays and emergencies.

The dress often costs a significant share of the wedding budget.. This is certainly not always the case, and there many options that will allow the bride to look beautiful without leaving her broke. The cost of the dress is definitely a subject to agree on from the start. As the bride is traditionally center-stage and the focus of photographs, it is normal for her to feel she should look her best.

Before deciding on the budget allotment for the dress, decide on the type of wedding desired; elegant, informal, themed, seasonal, outdoors, etc... The attire chosen for the bride and groom will affect every other aspect of the planning including what others wear, the color scheme, decorations, invitations, flowers, venues, transportation, in short - everything!

And in addition to the wedding dress, the bride needs accessories including the veil, headpiece, train, shoes, undergarments, stockings, garter, handbag, and jewelry. Much of it can be ordered along with the wedding dress, but other accessories will have to be purchased over the coming months. Be sure to factor in the costs for these accessories when planning the wedding attire budget.

The groom's attire reflects the style set by the bride's. The groom should arrange his tuxedo rental 6 to 12 months before the date and get fitted, then the men pick up the tuxes which come with everything needed including the cummerbund, tie, and even the shoes!
