What Are The Benefits Of Green Tea For Dieting

A bottle of tea fortified with green tea extract has the ability to reduce body fat, according to a recent study in Japan. Not only will it fight cancer and heart disease it can be used as a tasty supplement to any diet program. The 3 month study showed a larger fat reduction drinking tea fortified with green tea extract than regular oolong tea. These are the benefits of green tea for dieting. The information below will back up these points.

1. A substance found in most teas are polyphenols. It is plant based and has antiviral, antioxidant and anticancer properties. Another strong polyphenol characteristic includes anti-bacterial and skin rejuvenating capabilities.

2. Catechins is a type of polyphenol found in green tea with antiflammatory properties already and can aid in the fight against excess body fat and high cholesterol levels.

3. Black tea, oolong tea and green tea come from the Camella Sinesis plant. Before steaming and drying the green tea leaves are the only ones that are not fermented.

4. A test group of 35 Japanese men were studied for the effects of catechins on reducing fat and overall weight loss. Their waist sizes and measurement of body fat were close to the same.

5. The test group was split into 2 groups to perform a 3 month test. One group drank a bottle of oolong tea fortified with green tea extract with 690 milligrams of catechins while the second group drank the same amount of oolong tea with 22 milligrams of catechins.

7. Each group consumed a controlled calorie and fat diet for breakfast and dinner.

8. The 3 month test showed a drop of 5.9 pounds in the group drinking green tea extract. A reduction in body fat percentage, waist size and body weight was also achieved along with a drop in LDL known as bad cholesterol. The other group lost 2.9 pounds proving the benefits of green tea for dieting.

9. Steeping time and the amount of tea will vary the amount of catechins in each cup of green tea consumed. The recommended consumption of green tea is 4 cups a day and there are green tea supplements available at your local health food store.

One of the main benefits of green tea for dieting is the prevention of various diseases. It has been proven that body fat may be reduced with green tea extract incorporated in a daily diet regimen.
