What is the Ipod?

The ipod is a brand for moveable media players, which can play MP3, AAC/M4A, Protected AAC, AIFF, WAV, Audible audio book, and Apple Lossless audio file formats. Ipods are designed as well as marketed by Apple.

The ipod has iTunes included in it, by which you can transfer tracks from the CD to MP3 format. All you have to do is connect the ipod to your PC and transfer the music along with the play list. Ipod is well suited for Macintosh computers that run on Mac OS X and PCs running on Windows 2000 or Windows XP.

When the ipod or ipod nano is connected to your PC initially, it identifies the computer as “home” computer. Thus every time you connect, your ipod will automatically download the music stored in on the PC. Try connecting it with a different computer. The moment you do it, your ipod will tell you that it is connected to a computer that is different from the home computer and will ask you if you are interested in removing its contents and link it with the music library of the new computer.

It is possible to link more than one ipod with your PC and each ipod will provide an exclusive identification code to your computer. This way you can transfer the music to the ipod even if you share the computer with another individual using ipod.

The design of all ipods and ipod nanos is suited to the active lifestyle of people with busy schedules. You can carry them in your hand or put into the pocket even while walking, jogging or running.

Ipods have various sizes of storage facilities. The capacities vary from 512 MB to 80 GB. The actual amount of music that your ipod can hold would actually depend on the rate of compression of your songs. For instance, twenty GB is comparable to over 5000 four-minute songs, or more than 500 CDs. If the case be that you have more music than the capacity of your ipod, then you need to update manually.

The outstanding feature of an ipod is that it provides very good quality sound and a wide range of pitch and volume. Its powerful amplifier can produce a very loud sound and also even out the song volume with its check feature. Its in-built battery can support it for 10-20 hours depending on the model of ipod you own.

Your ipod can be used as your computer’s hard disk and help you transfer files from your PC and take them with you wherever you travel. Moreover, the ipod is intelligent enough to deal with your data and music files separately without any fear of one overlapping the other. And, lest you think this is all, the ipod also has a digital watch to help you maintain your schedule wherever you go. You can get all this information and more at www.nanospot.org.
