Too many of us who don't dance too often or too well, but ballroom dancing is nice, slow and romantic, in a dimly lit dance floor or out in the moonlight. Well-trained ballroom dancers have a different story to tell. All those moves, those twirls and those bends and twists give you much more of exercise than an aerobics class would.
If you are searching for a more rigorous form of exercise apart from the gym, then ballroom dancing is for you. It's great enjoyment and even more so if you do it with a partner. It's certainly more fun that the gym.
Ballroom dancing allows you to burn the same amount or even more calories than a gym session. One session can burn between two hundred and four hundred calories but it depends on the type of dance of course. This is equivalent to spending 30 minutes on a brisk walk. There are other dances that burn even more energy.
Keep in mind that in ballroom dancing you exercise every part of your body at the same time unlike what you do at the gym where the focus is only on particular parts. No wonder, professional dancers looked so good overall and not just in a particular body part.
There could be more to make it even more enjoyable. Unlike any other form of exercise, you get teamed up with a partner or you could go as a couple or you could just go and be paired off. Doing things together is great fun and who knows, you might just make friends who last a lot longer than your dance lessons. So get out there and dance your way to fitness!
