Why Buy a Designer Gas Fire?

A great way of updating your living room and giving it that designer feel or touch of luxury, is to consider installing a designer gas fire as a dramatic focal point to your room.

Designer gas fires come in many different styles, the most dramatic being the hole in the wall or hang on the wall style designer gas fires. Designer fireplaces are also available – beautiful limestone fireplaces which will complement any room.

Hole in the Wall Designer Gas fires

Hole in the wall gas fires are recessed or inset into the wall. They are ideal for rooms where floor space is limited or in rooms decorated in a minimalist style. Hole in the wall designer gas fires do not need a hearth or mantel and generally fit flush to the wall. They come in a variety of styles – coal effect, driftwood, log or pebbles, a variety of finishes – brushed steel, chrome, coloured frames, black frames and also a variety of shapes – oval, square and rectangular.

Hang on the Wall Designer Gas Fires

Hang on the Wall designer gas fires are easy to install because they do not need any building work, they simply mount on the wall like a picture using the supplied wall mounting. Like the hole in the wall gas fires, they are also ideal for homes without a hearth or adequate floor space. They come in many styles and finishes with many of them having a living flame effect, a remote control and thermostat.

Designer Fireplaces

Beautiful white stone or limestone fireplaces look great with contemporary gas fires which use pebbles or driftwood as their fake fuels. Contemporary basket style gas fires are also available.

Which gas fire you choose will depend on what type of flue or chimney you have. Older houses with a proper chimney or flue will be able to have a full choice of designer gas fires, houses with pre-cast flues will be limited to slimline gas fires and houses with no flue or chimney will need to shop around for flueless gas fires.

Fortunately, advances in technology mean that even people without a flue or chimney can still install designer gas fires. Balanced flue gas fires can be installed in houses without a chimney as long as they can be installed on an outside wall. These gas fires use a horizontal flue to take air and vent out gases and are very efficient. Fanned flue or power flue systems also need an outer wall to vent out gases but take air from the room. Flueless gas fires have a catalytic converter to convert poisonous gases to harmless water vapour and carbon dioxide and can be fitted on internal walls without the need for any building work.

Whatever your needs, your style and your house, there are designer gas fires which are perfect for you.
